NOTICE TO PARENTS
ELEMENTARY TEACHER WORK-TO-RULE
Commencing
Monday, March 21, 2005, the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario is
requiring elementary teachers in the Rainy River District School Board
to join other provincial public school board elementary teachers in a
Work-to-Rule job action. As a result of this action, teachers have been
directed by their federation to no longer participate in some school activities
and duties.
Teachers will continue to perform all
classroom teaching and student supervision duties and will take daily
attendance.
Only the selected duties set out below
will be subject to the job action at this time:
§
Staff meeting attendance, including
regular and divisional in-school meetings, and in-school committee meetings
during and outside of the instructional day;
§
Performance of custodial, secretarial, or
administrative functions;
§
Scheduling of new field trips. Field trips that were scheduled prior to
March 21, 2005, will continue as planned;
§
Duties of a site contact teacher.
Parents
will be kept advised by the Board of any changes to the job action. As this is
a provincially driven job action, it is anticipated that changes or escalation
in the job action may occur with very little notice. Parents are therefore
asked to monitor the Board’s website at www.rrdsb.com
on a regular basis for updates.
Please be assured that the Board remains committed to ensuring the
safety of students in its schools, and will continue to monitor and address situations
as they arise.
Your patience and support is appreciated.
