Welcome to Rainy River District

Kiss N Ride Program Q&A

  1. Can I walk my child into the school while using the Kiss ‘N Ride?
No. You must stay in your vehicle when in the Kiss ‘N Ride loop.
  2. Who will meet my child when I drop them off in the Kiss ‘N Ride?
School staff will be at the drop off/pick up area to open the vehicle door, receive the child and escort them into the school. At the end of the day, school staff will have children lined up to meet their parent’s vehicle.
  3. How will I identify the school staff who will be greeting my child?
All staff and volunteers involved in the Kiss ‘N Ride program will be identifiable by their fluorescent yellow vests and school board ID badges.
  4. Can I let my child out anywhere once I enter the Kiss ‘N Ride loop or is there a designated drop off area?
There is a designated drop off/pickup area in front of the school doors where a staff member will open your vehicle door. Stopping is not permitted until you get to this area and children can only exit the vehicle here.
  5. What time will the Kiss ‘N Ride be operating?
The Kiss ‘N Ride will open at 8:15 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. at J.W. Walker School and 8:25 a.m. and 3:25 p.m. at Robert Moore School.
  6. How long will it take to get through the Kiss ‘N Ride?
The Kiss ‘N Ride line will continue moving just like a restaurant drive-through (even quicker). The estimated stop time for your child to exit the vehicle is 30-45 seconds.
  7. If a vehicle is stopped too long at the Kiss ‘N Ride drop off area, can I pass them to get out of the loop?
No. Once you are in the loop, vehicles are in one lane of traffic going one way and you must wait your turn to drop off your child and then proceed out of the loop.
  8. What if my child is not at the pickup area at the end of the day?
If your child is not out at the pickup area when it is your turn to stop at the school entrance, you will have to keep your vehicle moving through the line and get back into the line to enter the Kiss ‘N Ride again.
  9. What if I would like to escort my child into the school?
You would park on a side street where parking is permitted during those hours or school parking lot and walk your child into the school. At J.W. Walker there are five designated parking spots for short term parking and at Robert Moore there is parking on the north side of Second Street and the Education Centre (short term).
  10. Can I drop off my J.W. Walker student and my Fort Frances High School student at the Kiss 'N Ride drop off?
Yes. Any FFHS student can be dropped off along with your J.W. Walker student with the understanding that secondary students walk themselves to FFHS.
  11. What if I need to drop my child off before 8:00 a.m. at the daycare?
At Robert Moore School, the bus stop area on Fourth Street can be used.
At J.W. Walker School the parking spots in front of the school can be used.
  12. How will my kindergarten child get to their designated area at the other end of the school?
The kindergarten children will be escorted to their classroom/playground area by a staff member.
