Director's Message I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Rainy River District School Board web site. Communication is often the cornerstone to communities collaborating to provide quality programming and enhancing good relations. This is one of the many methods of communication that our Board will use this year to enable all stakeholders the opportunity to be informed and involved in education. |
The Rainy River District School Board provides students with quality learning opportunities, and staff members continue to strive to improve learning environments. New research based approaches to teaching are becoming more evident as a result of breakthroughs in technology, medical studies on the function of the brain, and a number of studies pertaining to literacy/numeracy learning.
We proudly provide a rich and quality academic program and daily demonstrate our commitment to improving student achievement. It is our mission that Rainy River District students graduate as well prepared as any students in the province to become contributing members of a global society who continue to enjoy learning for a lifetime. Outstanding programs in athletics, the arts and outdoor education offered by a professional, caring staff allow our students to participate in a wide range of creative and engaging learning opportunities.
We will continue to take a keen interest in pursuing opportunities for additional funding through the Ministry of Education to provide program support for students that will impact on the future of our communities. Staff members are motivated to ensure that students participate in a variety of activities that contribute to the development of interpersonal and leadership skills. The arts, athletics and outdoor education test each student and help contribute to the spirit of our communities.
Community involvement through volunteerism and advisory councils is welcomed and encouraged by myself and the trustees. Our students need good role models to become contributing members of our society.
A school environment established through positive relationships will help develop a community culture focused on lifelong learning. By respecting our needs, supporting one another in our positive endeavors, and building trust with each interaction, we will undoubtedly provide learning environments within our schools and communities that support good citizenship and academic excellence.
