RRDSB values and recognizes how volunteers enrich the educational experiences of our students while also strengthening the ties between our schools and the wider community.
Volunteers are an integral part of our schools, actively participating in a variety of activities and services that help maximize the potential of every child. Their engagement may include:
- Helping with day trips
Participating in the School Council
- Supervising field excursions
- Organizing school projects (concerts, dances, etc.)
- Participating in book fairs
- Helping to support Nutrition Programs
- And coaching sports teams
Individuals interested in volunteering for coaching, day trips, or overnight excursions where they will have regular and direct interaction with students must submit a Criminal Background Check (CBC) that has been completed within the last six months. To prioritize student safety, the Board will not allow anyone with a positive criminal background check or concerning behavior patterns to volunteer unless their record has been reviewed and resolved.
We ask that all volunteers should:
1. Review/complete the following documents and return them to the Principal or supervisor:
School Volunteer Agreement
Emergency Contact Information Form
Parent and Community Volunteers Confidentiality Agreement
2. Review our Volunteer Handbook
3. Please complete the following training by accessing the links and reviewing the relevant materials. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to consult your Principal or Supervisor, and remember to provide them with documentation confirming your training completion.
