Attend today, achieve tomorrow!
Don’t let absences add up
The Rainy River District School Board recognizes the importance of regular daily attendance for all our students. Research shows there is a direct connection between days missed from school and student achievement and well being. Students who miss 19 or more days of school for any reason are considered chronically absent and this can translate into students having difficulty learning to read by the third-grade, feeling disconnected from school and peers, and not graduating from high school.
We are launching the 19 days attendance awareness campaign to help families and communities understand the importance of regular daily attendance at school. Our hope is to:
*build trust and engagement between schools and families,
*establish a school climate where all children connect emotionally to their schools and peers,
*provide environments that support student’s health and well-being.
We are here to help and value families as key partners in every student’s learning journey. If your child is struggling with school attendance, each school has unique supports in place to support regular school attendance. Please reach out to your school Principal for support.
