2021-22 school year info

September 1, 2021

Dear parents and guardians,

Rainy River District School Board is excited to welcome students back to our schools for the 2021-22 school year. The first day of classes is tomorrow (September 2, 2021). We remain committed to ensuring the success of every student, focusing on their achievement and overall well-being.

Based on direction from the Ministry of Education, as well as the Chief Medical Officer of Health, we have developed our 2021-22 Reopening Plan, which we invite you to review.

Please note:

  • Students in Grades 1 to 12 will be required to wear non-medical or cloth masks while in school and on school vehicles.
  • Parents/guardians are expected to screen their children and youth prior to them leaving for school each morning. Please use the Ontario Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 School and Child Care Screening:  https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/

Further to this, the Ministry of Education has requested that as an additional safety measure, schools will confirm that students have completed this screen for the first 10 days of school— September 2-16, 2021.

For students in JK-Grade 3, parents/guardians are asked to confirm in writing that each child has been screened, using this form and sending this form each day to the school.  (If you can’t print it out at home, please send a handwritten note. A paper copy of the form will be sent home with your child on the first day of classes.)

Students in Grades 4-12 will verbally confirm that they completed the screening with their classroom teacher.

If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school. For information about the 2021-22 school year, please visit: www.rrdsb.com/2021-22

Sincerely,

Heather Campbell
Director of Education
