We are very sorry that the October 20 trial of the online OSSLT was unsuccessful. Unfortunately, we experienced widespread technical issues with the network and, as a result, we had to cancel the trial assessment. We do not yet exactly know the root cause of the issue, but we are undertaking a thorough investigation.

On October 12, 2016, the Rainy River District School Board reached a tentative agreement at the local level with the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) 5B occasional teachers.

With the start of the new school year, it’s a great time to celebrate the successes of the last year. The Rainy River District School Board is excited to recognize the achievements of Grade 8 Student at J.W. Walker, Angie Redford, who earned a bronze medal at the Canada-Wide Science Fair in Montreal in May 2016.

Staff and students at Mine Centre School are now benefitting from the Connected North program. The program uses leading edge telepresence technology provided by CISCO to help bring the world to the school.

The 2015-2016 Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) results have been released. The Rainy River District School Board has reviewed these results as compared to the previous year, and as compared the results over the past five years.

The Rainy River District School Board and OSSTF, the union representing secondary school teachers have each ratified the 3 year collective bargaining agreement that was reached on August 25, 2016.

The Rainy River District School Board and the Ontario Secondary School Teachers have reached a negotiated tentative agreement. Ratification votes will be completed by Tuesday September 6, 2016. With this tentative agreement, all classes and extra-curricular activities will proceed uninterrupted when classes resume.
