The Rainy River District School Board and Seven Generations Education Institute will celebrate their grand opening of a Welding Program facility, featuring 12 welding booths located within Fort Frances High School.

Walker School Grades 7 and 8 students are moving to Fort Frances High School to address the overcapacity issue at J.W. Walker School, effective August 29, 2016. School Board Administration will be scheduling meetings throughout the upcoming months for J.W. Walker School parents, students, and staff of both schools to dialogue and prepare for this transition.

This year, the students and staff at Sturgeon Creek School invited family and friends to attend their special day on Jan. 28, 2016, which featured many special guests and “Royal Readers” who read to the various classes during the day.

Atikokan High School (AHS) student Marla Larson spent three weeks on a humanitarian trip to the South American country of Ecuador. Between August 11 and September 1, 2015, the experience took her from the clouds high in the Andes Mountains to the basin of the Amazon River, miles below.

The First World War may have ended 97 years ago but Grade 8 students at Robert Moore School here were reliving those years thanks for artifacts on loan from the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa.

Despite efforts to reach a deal this week, mediation between the Rainy River District School Board (RRDSB) and the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF) District 5B ended unsuccessfully during the night of January 19, 2016.

The Rainy River District School Board is pleased to announce that it ratified tentative collective agreements with both the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario – Rainy River District Local and the Rainy River District ETFO Occasional Teacher Local at the December 15, 2015, Special Board meeting.

This morning, December 15, 2015, we were advised by the OPP to place J.W. Walker School and Fort Frances High School in Hold & Secure. The situation was quickly resolved while all staff and students remained safe.
