RAINY RIVER DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD APPROVES BALANCED BUDGET FOR 2026-2027, PRIORITIZING STUDENT SUCCESS AND WELL-BEING
The Rainy River District School Board is pleased to announce the approval of a balanced preliminary budget of $65,853,165 for the 2026–27 fiscal year, following consultation with students, families, staff, and community partners. This budget reflects the Board’s ongoing commitment to its Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan, ensuring that every student is supported in a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
The 2026–27 budget continues to invest in key areas that support the Board’s strategic pillars. Within A Culture of Caring, the budget maintains funding for mental health professionals, Autism Support Workers, Speech-Language Pathologists, and FNMI Graduation Coaches while continuing support for student nutrition, well-being initiatives, field trips, and athletic excursions.
Within A Culture of Lifelong Learning, the budget supports evidence-based literacy and math instruction, targeted interventions, and educator professional learning. Continued investments in experiential learning, skilled trades and apprenticeship pathways, technology-enabled learning, and First Nation, Métis, and Inuit education further enhance student achievement and future readiness.
Chief Executive Officer, Heather Campbell stated, “As we prepare for a new school year, this budget reflects our commitment to student achievement, equity, and well-being. We are proud to continue investing in the success and well-being of every learner across our District.”
