Come Play with Me - Crossroads School
Principal Sharla McKinnon from Crossroads School and Dana George, Autism Support Worker shared their Parent Engagement sessions, emphasizing the importance of play in child development and highlighting its role in strengthening child-parents bonds, encouraging social and emotional development, and boosting cognitive and problem solving skills.
Parents enjoyed and appreciated the sessions, and future sessions will include physical games.

System-Program/Curriculum Success
Vice-Principal and FNMI Lead, Kim Kirk, presented the FNMI Board Action Plan, which focuses on initiatives and celebrations related to First Nation, Métis and Inuit education, and highlighted the involvement of community partners and knowledge keepers in updating the land acknowledgment and creating lesson bundles for students. The plans include various initiatives to engage students, drum groups and dance programs.
The ongoing self-identification campaign to encourage more students to self-identify as First Nation, Métis or Inuit.
