Donald Young School Nutrition Program
Principal Serena Maharaj and Vice-Principal Melanie Williams from Donald Young School presented the Donald Young School Nutrition Program, highlighting its importance, options, cost-effectiveness and impact on student achievement. They also discussed the various initiatives of the school nutrition program, including the school garden, breakfast program, and hot meals, which have improved student focus, attendance and learning outcomes. They also shared the development of the hot lunch program, including budgeting and cost-effectiveness. This program offers nutritious, home-cooked meals three days a week, with options for different portions sizes and emergency meals for students in need. 
They also shared their goals for the future of the nutrition program, including increasing participation and collaboration with community partners to lower costs.

System-Program/Curriculum Success

Heather Bridgeman-Swire, the Special Education Administrator, introduced the Stop Now and Plan (SNAP) program, an evidence-based early intervention initiative designed for students in Grades 2 and 3. This program emphasizes self-control, emotional regulation, and problem-solving abilities. She also discussed the program's outcomes, highlighting its support for 364 students within our schools, along with positive feedback from teachers, principals, and facilitators regarding its effectiveness in fostering self-regulation and problem-solving skills among students.
