At a Special Board Meeting on December 8, 2020, the Rainy River District School Board appointed Carla Magisano to fill the vacant seat in the west end of the District, previously held by David Loewen.
At its November meeting, the Board accepted Loewen’s resignation and declared the Trustee seat vacant effective November 4, 2020. As well, by resolution of the Board, the process for filling the vacancy was to be the appointment process and, subsequently, the vacancy was advertised from November 11 to November 23, 2020 through newspapers and the Board website.
Eligible applications were received from Carla Magisano and Simeon Nussbaumer. As per the selection process, each applicant participated in an interview as part of the Special Board Meeting. The successful applicant was determined by vote by secret ballot by the Board of Trustees.
Magisano, who will take her Oath of Office at the January 5, 2020 Board meeting, will represent the Township of Morley, Township of Morson, Lake of the Woods, Township of McCrosson & Tovell, Town of Rainy River, Township of Dawson, and the unorganized area adjacent to Dawson.
