Outers 2018-2019: Ojibwa Campground trail builders

On Oct. 20, the group of Outers from Atikokan High School, along with director Brad Gascoigne and teacher Sherri Dragan (and Trevor Gibb and Chris Stromberg from Ojibwa Campground) undertook an ambitious project: reestablishing a couple of beach access trails there. This involved installing wooden water bars and stops as erosion controls, and hauling in and placing a half truck load of gravel.

FFHS musical revue set for next week

Fort Frances High School students will be bringing some rays of sunshine into the Townshend Theatre on Nov. 8-10 for their "Shades of Yellow and Sunshine"-themed fall musical revue.

Fort High staging fairy tale mashup

A load of good laughs, great times, and awesome performances are coming to the Townshend Theatre. Running tonight through Sunday (Oct. 26-28) from 7:00-9:00 p.m., "The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon" will be performed by Fort High students in Grades 7-12.

Rainy River District School Board announces Grade 3, 6, and 9 and OSSLT EQAO test results

The 2017-2018 Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) results have been released. School and system leaders of the Rainy River District School Board have met to analyze and interpret the results. These results, along with other assessments, help the School Board to develop and refine strategies for achievement in all areas of the curriculum, including Literacy and Math.

Public board pushes back on sex-ed issue

The Rainy River District School Board has taken a stand for diversity and inclusivity in its classrooms. Last Tuesday, it passed a motion to write the premier an minister of education a letter in support for the recently-scrapped 2015 sexual health curriculum.
