The Rainy River District School Board is pleased to be receiving $2.6 million through the Ontario government’s 2022-23 Capital Priorities Program for a new Nestor Falls School. The investment, announced last week by Greg Rickford, MPP for Kenora-Rainy River, will support the creation of 46 elementary student spaces.

“The announcement of funding to replace Nestor Falls School is great news for the community,” said Raymond Roy, Chair of the Rainy River District School Board.  “We are excited that our students and staff will soon have a modern, fully accessible learning environment.”

“We are so grateful for the opportunity to participate in the Rapid Build program, providing the Board with a modular build that enhances accessibility, offers enhanced teaching and learning spaces, and continues the work to make our schools safe and supportive for all students and staff,” said Heather Campbell, Director of Education, Rainy River District School Board.

The project is part of a provincewide investment of nearly $500 million to support new school and childcare spaces. The overall investment will support 37 school related projects including 23 childcare centres. This funding will add nearly 15,700 new student spaces and 1,502 licensed childcare spaces at schools across Ontario.
