The Rainy River District School Board is pleased to announce Beth Fairfield as the new system leader, effective June 1, 2022. She will be replacing Peg Keffer, who will be retiring at the end of the school year.
Ms. Fairfield has been serving as the Assistant to the Director for the 2021-2022 school year and previously has held the positions of Principal and Vice Principal of Atikokan High School and North Star Community School over the course of 11 years. She has also worked as a classroom teacher, Secondary Curriculum Coordinator, and Special Education resource teacher since she began working for the RRDSB in 1991. She brings a wealth of knowledge in the areas of School Mental Health, Equity and Diversity, and Student Success.
Ms. Fairfield has a Bachelor of Education from the University of Ottawa and is currently finishing her Master’s degree, upon which time she will assume the title of Superintendent of Education.
“We are confident that Ms. Fairfield will continue to be an excellent leader for our Board as she takes on this new position,” said Heather Campbell, Director of Education. “With her experience in education and administration, and the strengths from her Board portfolios, which align directly with our Strategic Plan, we couldn’t think of a better fit for our next Superintendent. I’m looking forward to working with her as we continue to provide our students with the highest quality learning experiences, to support them as lifelong learners.”
The Board also thanks Mrs. Keffer for her years of services and her system leadership over the past three years, and wishes her well in her retirement.
