Students from local Ojibwe classes recently took part in the annual Gagwe-gikendamaawiziwin, also known as the "Quest for Knowledge," language competition at the Seven Generations Fort Frances campus. This event honours Anishinaabemowin, demonstrates school support for the language, allows students to showcase their language abilities positively, and brings Elders and speakers together for a day of enjoyment.
The competition this year featured five stations:

Pictionary (Mazinibii'an igaye Nisidotan)
•
Jeopardy (Oko-aabijitooying Anishinaabemowin)
•
Creating three Anishinaabemowin translations (Wiiji'idiyok Ji-ozhitooyeg Oshki-ikidowinan)
•
Presentation using Technology (Indoozhitoomin gaa-maamakaadendaagwak)
•
Presentation using Art (Nimaamakaajichigemin)
The hard work shown by all the students is truly impressive, and we are extremely proud of their dedication. We extend our warmest congratulations to the following schools for their remarkable achievements in the competition:
Junior Division:
• Robert Moore emerged as the first-place winner.

The Rainy River District School Board, Seven Generations Education Institute, and SayITFirst have joined forces to support Anishinaabemowin programs in schools, aimed at those passionate about learning and preserving the Anishinaabe language.
